Some of our favourite things to do with our tempeh. It already tastes nice because of our local beans, but adding spices to food has never been a bad idea.

Tempeh Goreng

Tempeh goreng (fried tempeh) is a delicious snack served in Indonesia. It's a very easy way to make tempeh extra yummie. Also, it's actually a great vegan version of chicken nuggets. Add your favorite sauces. We like vegan sriracha mayonaise. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

​​​Ingredients:

  • 300g been bean tempeh

  • 85g flour

  • 1 tsp grated shallot

  • 1 tsp grated garlic

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/2 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp white pepper

  • 1 stalk spring onion green

  • 150 ml water

Recipe:

  1. Slice tempeh into rectangles of max 1/2 cm thick

  2. Cut spring onion into small rings

  3. Mix all ingredients until well combined. Make sure your 'sauce' is thick enough

  4. Dip slices of tempeh in ​sauce and coat well.

  5. Fry in vegetable oil on medium heat for 4-5 until golden-brown. Turn halfway.

  6. Drain well before serving

Sticky tempeh sandwich

That first bite of a crunchy bun or sandwich is always heavenly. Especially one as delicious and healthy as this one. Sweetly marinated tempeh along with freshness and sourness on a bun.

​​​Ingredients:

  • 300g been bean tempeh

  • 3 tbsp ketjap manis

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 2 tsp tomato purée

  • Jalapeño pepper (optional)

  • 4 buns or bread of choice

Recipe:

  1. Fry tempeh on medium heat until golden-brown. Drain well.

  2. Mix ketjap, garlic powder, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, sesame oil, tomato purée and stir in a bowl.

  3. Marinate the tempeh and bake 2 minutes on medium heat. Cool down tempeh and serve on bun with sriracha mayo, lettuce, pickles, onion and jalapeño.
